Teacher of the Year, nominees to be announced at School Board meeting

A regular meeting of the Altus School Board will be held Monday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. in the Board conference room at the Administrative Center.

Agenda items include comments from the public and reports and comments from the Superintendent, followed by recognition of the Altus High School Band All-State students.

The Teachers of the Year finalists will also be recognized and the winner announced for 2016. This year’s finalists are Randall Coffman, Staci Cope, Jackie Russell, Debra Mardis, Amanda Roberson, Christina Sewell, Mindy Hawthorne and Denise Durrence.

A report on the grade centers community meetings will be given, as well as the Reading Sufficiency Plan, activity fundraisers, use of facilities, and the Title I Comparability Compliance procedures.

Employment items such as retirements, resignations, reassignments will then be considered, followed by an executive session to discuss proposed new hires and the Superintendent’s evaluation. After reconvening into regular session the board may take any necessary action to approve or not approve items from the executive session.

The Board will then be presented with the District Audit Report for the year ended June 30, 2015.

An amendment to the professional services agreement with Boynton Williams & Associates for replacement of the gym floor at Altus Junior High School will then be considered, as well as approving the bid for replacement of the floor.

If there is no new business, the meeting will then adjourn.
