Bulldog Week in Altus

Kicking the Altus City Council meeting off Tuesday evening was a recognition of the Altus Bulldog football team as the State Class 5A State Champions. The Bulldogs worked their way up to the State Championship held Saturday, Dec. 5 in Yukon. Altus beat Collinsville 31-28. This is the first time since 1971 that Altus has won the State Championship.

There are a variety of fundraisers being held to help buy the team members State Championship rings. T-shirts and caps are being sold by the 12th Man Club, autographed team photos will be auctioned off, as well as game memorabilia, game videos will be sold, and accounts have been set up at local banks. Approximately $45,000 will need to be raised.

After the rings have been purchased, Coach Jeremy Reed and the 12 Man Club will hold a special event to present them to the players. This will give the community an opportunity to share in the glory of being Class 5A champions.
