Socks for the needy

The Altus Times is collecting pairs of new socks for the needy this holiday season. Local charitable organizations have said that socks are items that are always needed, but not often donated. Socks are included in bags of items given to the homeless, are listed on the need lists of many nursing homes and VA Centers, as well as items sought at free clothes giveaways. Socks for all ages, boys and girls, men and women, are being collected. Altus Times reporter Mary O. Esparza is seen here dropping sock donations into the collection box. Bring your donations by the Altus Times at 218 W. Commerce by Dec. 17 and help make someone’s Christmas a little bit warmer.
