A regular meeting of the Altus Municipal Authority, followed by a regular meeting of the Altus City Council, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The AMA meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the City Municipal Complex.
AMA agenda items include a recognition to the Combat Challenge Team and a badge pinning ceremony for Fire Department personnel. Receiving of receipt of claims list, consider bids for Pad Mount Transformers, stranded Black and White Copper, and Aluminum Triplex Copper from WESCO Distribution of Amarillo, Texas, are on the agenda, as well as a bid for wood utility poles from Bridgewell Resources of Dierks Arkansas. Discussion and vote to direct the Public Works Director to Commence Preparation of a formal Water Conservation Plan for the City of Altus will also be heard.
The City Council will address changing the zoning classification of a O.64 Acre Tract located south of the 1900 block of Falcon Road and adjacent to the NE corner of the Mesquite Meadows Addition from Suburban Commercial (SC) to Auto-Urban Residential (AR). Council will also consider to accept the Atus City Planning Commission recommendation concerning the final plat of the Mesquite Meadows Addition.
Approval of the council to select Boynton Williams & Associates as the Architectural Firm to plan and design of the New Altus Fire Department – Central Fire Station to be funded from MAPS is next on the agenda. Consideration will also be given to approve a Mutual Aid Agreement between Air Evac Lifeteam ( “Air Evac” ) and the City of Altus as authorized by State Law.
Discussion to vote and approve and amend the Code of ordinances, City of Altus by adding Section 17-9 Creating a $100 Motor Vehicle Impoundment fee will be next. Separate from any issued citations and resulting fines, costs, or fees; creating a Police Vehicle Equipment Fund, a Special Account into which all Impoundment fees will be deposited: and specifying possible uses for the expenditures of funds from this special account are part of the measure.
In executive session, the council will consider the possible action to discuss the employment, disciplining, resignation and/or separation of the City Manager, an individual salaried public employee, as well as discuss the appraisal of real property, the value of leased groundwater of the Round Timber Groundwater Lease Agreement between Leonard Keith Spears and Sherry K. Spears and the City to said groundwater lease. In open session, council will vote to take appropriate action.
If there is no new business, Mayors appointments and comments from the Mayor , City Manager and Council will be heard before adjourning.
