It’s time once again to clean up Altus! The city wide cleanup event is scheduled for this Saturday, June 13, from 7 to 11 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the Altus Community Center on Falcon Road at 7 a.m. Please meet on the west side of the Community Center to register and pick up your trash bags.

Goals of this project include keeping Altus looking great and keeping trash out of the main waterways in the area. All businesses along the major thoroughfares are encouraged to participate in the clean-up effort and are asked to clean up areas in front, back and sides if their building. What else can you do? Edging, spraying weeds, mowing, removing weeds, and trimming trees.

These events are a cooperative effort between the Altus Chamber of Commerce, City of Altus, Main Street Altus, Altus AFB, Altus Rotary, Altus Lions, Altus Kiwanis Club, Jackson County Health Action Team – Nutrition and Fitness Task Force, Western Oklahoma State College, Southwest Technology Center , Altus Realtors, OSU Extension Center – 4H Clubs, Boy Scouts, area churches, McDonald’s and many other businesses.

The Altus Times, KEYB and KWHW radio stations also help with the clean up events on a regular basis. Anyone interested in joining this effort is asked to call the Altus Chamber of Commerce at 580-482-0210 to sign up.

“Thanks in advance for taking pride in our community,” said Altus Chamber of Commerce President Brian Bush. “It truly sends a message to visitors and potential businesses!”
