Rivers Elementary to be recognized at School Board meeting


Report from Grade Center Committee to be heard

A regular meeting of the Altus School Board will be held Monday, Oct. 12. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the conference room at the administrative center, 219 N. Lee.

Rivers Elementary School will be recognized at the meeting for being on the Top Ten List of Schools in Oklahoma. Jackson County Memorial Hospital will also be recognized for their donation of knee and ankle braces, and the First National Bank will be recognized for their donation to the football locker room renovation.

Chad Jordan and Logan Mealer will also be recognized for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Superintendent’s reports will include a report on the Altus Junior High gym flood and a report from the Grade Centers Committee.

Under the consent agenda, items include teacher and support personnel evaluators, uniform allowances for the cooks, use of school facilities, and activity fundraisers.

The Board will consider any retirements, resignations, and reassignments, as well as the proposed substitutes, time sheet employees, volunteers and extra duty assignments.

In executive session, the Board will discuss proposed new hires, and after reconvening into regular session, they will consider employment of individuals to include certified and non-certified personal on a temporary contract.

A public hearing to receive general discussion and comments on financial matters of the Altus School District will be considered.

If there is no new business of an emergency nature or that was not known at the time the agenda was posted, the meeting will adjourn.
