Kiwanis Club installs new officers

Altus Kiwanis Club recently installed the officers for the 2015-2016 club year. Pictured are President-Elect Erin Chambers, Vice-President Sunnye Cope, President Bonnie McAskill, Secretary/Treasurer Ernest Simpson, and Immediate Past President Bob Gable. Much of the focus of Altus Kiwanis Club is on children and a good environment in which they can grow. The club meets most Fridays at noon at the WOSC multipurpose room where the Kiwanian of the Day provides a program for the members and guests. Altus Kiwanis Club has been helping with Altus Schools Little Olympics for over 70 years. It provides scholarships to area students, snacks at One Stop Enrollment, and a cook out at the Middle School on the last day of school. As an outreach activity the club puts on the Sandy Nichols Golf Tournament in the spring. With the coordination of the 97th OSS of Altus Air Force Base the club displays American flags at area businesses on holidays.
