According to Kyle Davis, interim Fire Chief, there were 23 departments at a fire at the Highway 62/183 overpass. According to Davis, the fire started with construction. Along with 500 acres burned, there were seven or eight horses that perished in the fire, and one older abandoned structure burned. It took an hour and a half to extinguish the fire, with at least one more hour to take care of hot spots. There were no human injuries reported, and no firefighters were reported to have overheated, etc. Davis warns the public to be careful because the combination of high winds, and lots of high dry grass, combined with high temperatures, can fuel these types of fires.
