The Southern Prairie Library System presents “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” Summer Library Reading Program at 2 p.m. at the Altus Public Library, 421 N. Hudson St. in Altus and 10 a.m. at the Hollis Civic Center, 208 W. Jones St. in Hollis on Thursdays in June and July. There will be Tai Chi: Moving for better balance classes for older adults and their caregivers from 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning July 6 for six weeks until Aug. 9 at the Altus Public Library, 421 N. Hudson St. This class is offered at no cost and is open to the public, but pre-registration is required by visiting or calling the Altus Public Library at 580-477-2890.

The Salvation Army of Altus is scheduled to host its sixth annual golf tournament 9 a.m. July 16 at Quartz Mountain Golf Club and will include a four-person team scramble format with prizes awarded for closest to pin, longest drive and longest putt. The net proceeds from the tournament will benefit The Salvation Army’s Soup Kitchen and food pantry and ongoing social service programs. For more information, contact Maj. The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation Inc. and WOSC will be hosting the 26th Annual Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament at The Greens of Altus on Aug. 13. The shotgun start, four-person scramble is set to begin at 8 a.m. Tournament registration fees are $200 per team and includes green fees, team carts, prizes, food, drinks and trophies.
