Elm and Hudson Church of Christ will be holding Vacation Bible School Olympics themed “Champions for Christ” Sunday, June 19. Children are to meet in the annex at 5 p.m. and the adult class is to meet in the auditorium at 6 p.m. Topic will be compete to the end about the Apostle Paul. An election will be held 11 a.m. June 21 at the Altus Meal Site at 905 N. Willard St., Altus to elect one alternate board member for the east Jackson target area at large to the Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group Inc. board of directors. The area includes Altus, Blair and Headrick and anyone serving in that position must reside within these boundaries.

The Southern Prairie Library System welcomes back the dynamic duo of children’s music, the Sugar Free Allstars 2 p.m. at the Altus Public Library on Thursday, June 23. Chamber of Commerce Southwest Young Professionals kickoff event isscheduled 6:30 p.m. Thursday June 23 in the Fireside Room at the Greens of Altus at 20650 US 62. The event is open to anyone age 21-45 who is living and working in the Southwest Oklahoma area.

Faith Lutheran Church 2401 N. Park Lane in Altus, will be holding Vacation Bible School 6-7:30 p.m. June 27- July 1. The theme is “Barnyard Roundup.” For preregistration go to https://vbsmate.com/FaithLutheran.

St. John Baptist Church in Altus is holding its ninth annual feeding program. The church will be providing lunches from the fellowship hall at 620 MLK Drive 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The feeding will end June 30. Church pastor the Rev. Robert Bostic started this program in 2009, and they have been able to serve thousands of meals, in 2015 alone more than 2,000 people, many of whom were children. Altus Church of God fireworks stand fundraiser is scheduled to be open 9 a.m. to midnight now through July 6. Location is 4.5 miles north of Altus Walmart on west side of US 283. Great prices and credit cards accepted.

The Southern Prairie Library System presents “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” Summer Library Reading Program at 2 p.m. at the Altus Public Library, 421 N. Hudson St. in Altus and 10 a.m. at the Hollis Civic Center, 208 W. Jones St. in Hollis on Thursdays in June and July.
