Western Oklahoma State College Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, Larry Duffy, announced that the WOSC Foundation, Inc. had recently accepted the 2009-2010 annual audit. Although all aspects of the nation’s economy are experiencing some negative resources in financial returns on investments, the foundation continued to make a positive impact in support of Western Oklahoma State College.

During the 2009-2010 year, the foundation received total contributions and donations in the amount of $442,630.00, representing a $63,822.00 increase in gifts over the previous year. Total assets of $5,854,286.00 were reported for the end of the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The impact on Western was demonstrated through a return in support of $435,409.00, consisting of scholarships, student activity and academic program support. The foundation will be facing many concerns as the value of the investment returns continue to dwindle in our present and future market.

In a recent WOSC Foundation, Inc. Trustee Meeting, Duffy, who also serves as the executive secretary for the foundation, stated, “One of the key factors for continued success will be the need to emphasize and encourage cash gifts to help provide scholarships and funding that will be reduced by the returns on investments in our deprived market.” Duffy also stated that it is important for the foundation to continue its efforts in developing increased endowment funding, working with bequests and all sources of planned funding in order to provide the needed growth in endowments to be in place when the economy does return. Any questions about the foundation and opportunities to support the foundation may be answered by calling 580.477.7706 or by emailing foundation@wosc.edu.
