Edna Cowley, long time Auxiliary Volunteer at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, was presented with a “retirement” party in celebration of her years of service. Having moved from the Granite community to Altus in 1995 upon the death of her husband Jack, Edna wanted to remain useful and active. She began volunteering at JCMH in 1998 and reports that she totally enjoyed every day she was there. She leaves a host of other volunteer friends; many were present at the retirement celebration.
Cowley’s daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Jim Kitchens of Richardson, Texas, and her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Melruth Cowley of Wichita Falls, Texas, hosted the party at Plantation Village Assisted Living Center. Assisting were granddaughter Gina Cowley and great-grandchildren Jordynn and Cowley Crabtree of Broken Arrow.
Gaylon Holder, representing the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, presented Edna with a gift on behalf of the Auxiliary Volunteers. June Knight, member of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, presented Edna with a plaque commemorating her years of volunteer service to the hospital and community. Dr. Knight praised all current and past volunteers present for their efforts, commenting that volunteerism is the life-blood of any community.
