Each year the Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council supplies the banners and art supplies needed for students at Altus High School that enter the Walkin’ on Chalk Banner contest. This one day event scheduled for Saturday, March 27 has something for everyone, coloring and drawing contest for 1st and 2nd graders; a sidewalk chalk drawing contest for 1st – 12th grade students and college/adult categories. A banner contest for high school students, music, food, moon jump, balloon artists, clowns, and many more fun activities are planned for the whole family.

Sponsors for Walkin’ on Chalk are NBC; Aviation Training Consulting, LLC; Altus Times, Southern Prairie Library, Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council, KWHW, KEY-B, Wilmes Superstore and City of Altus.
