Two men who escaped from a Greer County jail are still at large. According to reports, Dwayne Mills, the Greer County Under Sheriff, said he was advised by the jail staff on Friday that two inmates were missing.

The inmates, Christian Tapia and Charles Arles, had escaped from the exercise area of the jail. Following a search, contact was made with Kimberly Lovett who said that she gave them a ride to Altus.

Altus Police were then contacted and were told that the escapees had left Tapias girlfriend’s house in Altus driving a GMC Denali truck.

The girlfriend told them that Tapia had called her, and she gave police the phone number he called from to police. The call was traced to a Stripes convenience store in Haskel, Texas. Neither suspect was found in the area.

The Greer County Sheriff’s Department has since received information that the suspects were in the Laredo, Texas area, or just inside of Mexico near Laredo.

Tapia is 54 years old with partially gray hair, brown eyes and is 5 ft. 5 inches tall, and weighs 150 lbs. Arles is 27 years old with hazel eyes, brown hair, is 5 ft. 8 inches tall, and weighs 155 lbs.
