The Jackson County Ministerial Alliance will host the Annual Community Thanksgiving Service on Sunday evening, Nov. 24. There will be a change in location this year as well as a change in format. The first Thanksgiving gathering came after a devastating year in the newly formed American colonies. Their gathering was to express thankfulness for the many blessings they had received during the hardships of life.
After a year of difficulties in our own community due to the drought and economy, the Ministerial Alliance would like to have a community gathering much like that of the early settlers, around the dinner table breaking bread with one another and giving thanks to God for the many blessings.
The new location this year will be at the Western Oklahoma State College multi-purpose room. There will be a catered meal beginning at 5 p.m. with the Thanksgiving worship service to follow the meal. The cost of the meal is $15 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Nov. 20. Tickets can be purchased at the First United Methodist Church, the Altus Christian Fellowship, the Martha Road Baptist Church, or the Altus Chamber of Commerce.
