Local Toastmasters club to host speech contest

The Red River Toastmasters Club of Altus will host their local Humorous Speech and Speech Evaluation Contest on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Altus Public Library. The contest will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Contestants from the local Toastmasters Club will compete for a spot in the Area Speech Contest to be held on Sept. 28 in Lawton.

The Red River Toastmasters Club welcomes all members of the community to come to this entertaining contest to cheer on the competitors and discover what Toastmasters is all about.

Toastmasters is and international, nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills. The purpose of the speech contests are to provide opportunities for speakers to challenge their speaking abilities, to provide learning opportunities for the audience by observing more proficient speakers, and to recognize the value of humor in speaking.
