MOW to hold school supplies giveaway

Mission on Wheels will hold a benefit bake sale at Walmart tomorrow, Saturday, July 27, beginning at 8 a.m. Funds from the sale will be used to help buy back-to-school supplies for needy children.

MOW’s 4th annual School Supplies giveaway will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. Just follow the music from the live band to this fun family activity at the Altus City Park.

If you are unable to get by the bake sale on Saturday, you are still welcome to help with donations for assorted school supplies such as binder paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers and erasers. Donations will also be needed to provide the hot dog dinner for participants. If you would like to donate, contact MOW Director Edna Douglas at 580-649-8620. Both monetary donations and goods for this community event sponsored by this not-for-profit organization are welcome.

Mission on Wheels provides free clothing and other items free of charge to those in need. They have changed their donation acceptance times at their 213 W. Walnut location. Donations of food and clothing are now taken on Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m. Giveaway are held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. They are also now open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
