VeEtta High, 93, longtime Altus resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

VeEtta was born on October 15, 1930, in Chattanooga, Oklahoma to Ed Lett and Alice West. The family moved to Altus some time later where VeEtta would call home for the rest of her life. She primarily worked as a homemaker, tending house and raising kids and grandkids.

She was a faithful member of the Altus Church of Christ.

VeEtta enjoyed watching Westerns, doing jigsaw puzzles, crafts, gardening, and going to different sales to collect her “treasures.” Her most cherished times were spent being around her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Grady Starling; her sisters, Eddie Mae Wilson, Mae Bell Wright, and Pearlie Mitchel; her husband, Alton High, Sr.; two sons, Kenneth Don High and Ronald High; a daughter, Alta Mae Telford; two grandchildren, Billy Jermaine High and Marcus C. King; two great grandchildren; a sonin- law, David King, Sr.; and a daughter-in-law, Regina High.

Survivors include her four children, Patricia High, Alton High, Jr., Ramona King, and Larry High and wife, Kelly; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Joey Campos officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
